After interviewing four candidates for the position on Monday, township clerk Tami Hillis said the board was not able to reach a consensus as to which candidate to hire. “As a board, we could not get past a 2-2 vote on any of them, except for one of the candidates who we were able to rule out with a 3-1 vote,” Hillis said.

  • Ishpeming -Negaunee Chamber director charged with embezzlement

    By Lisa Bowers Verified| Daily Press (Escanaba, MI) Verified ISHPEMING — The newly named director of the Greater Ishpeming -Negaunee Chamber of Commerce is expected to appear in court to face charges of embezzlement early next month. Samantha LaJeunesse, 34, stands accused of stealing money from the GINCC, a nonprofit organization that serves businesses in the cities of Ishpeming and Negaunee as well as nine surrounding townships. LaJeunesse was charged with three felonies on Nov. 15 in Marquette County District Court.
