According to the final report of the COST action No.65 of the European Union (COST-Action 65,1995), accounting for more than 50 percent of the drinking source were from karstic groundwater in Europe. However, karstic groundwater quality has been seriously affected by municipal solid waste (MSW), with the growth of population, industrialization and urbanization.
