Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a global human rights organization founded in 1961 by British lawyer Peter Benenson. Initially focused on advocating for the release of prisoners of conscience, the organization has since expanded its mission to address a wide range of human rights issues, including torture, the death penalty, and the rights of refugees, women, children, and marginalized communities. The organization conducts extensive research on human rights abuses and advocates for policy changes to protect human rights worldwide. It engages in campaigns to raise awareness and mobilize public support for its causes. Amnesty International also supports human rights defenders and offers educational resources, including the Amnesty Academy mobile app, which provides access to human rights courses. Through its efforts, Amnesty International aims to create a world where everyone enjoys the rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
