The Denton Record-Chronicle received a tip that school district officials announced the change to librarians last Friday. The announcement coincided with news that the 89th Texas Legislature was on track to sign a voucher plan into law.

The announcement left a major performance sponsored by GLAD: Queer Alliance, an LGBTQ+ social group, in the balance.
