Late Saturday afternoon the Burke Mountain Owners Association (BMOA) held a special meeting to approve an amendment to the mountain’s “Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions” that was required by a title insurance company to clear up legal technicalities for the purchase to proceed.

That long period of maintenance being deferred led to the resort’s deterioration without being sold. It was a costly lesson, as well as an instructive one. What’s become painfully obvious is that no outsiders were willing to buy the mountain.
