Lawrence employees learned of the pending closure earlier this month. Karen Tomaszewski Hill, a spokesperson for UPS, said at the time that she was unable to confirm individual stores that were slated to close, and that a companywide evaluation was ongoing.

Dave Dyer said Wednesday that he’s barely slept since Wanda has been gone — since Friday morning, March 21. “It’s been so long, you know, I dread the worst,” he said.

• A Legislative Update: Last Minute Bills Amend Michigan’s Earned Sick Time Act and Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act | JD Supra

  By Mackenzie Clark| JD Supra@ Michigan’s Earned Sick Time Act (“ESTA”) and Michigan’s Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act (“IWOWA”) became effective February 21, 2025. Last minute bills, passed earlier this week and just before midnight Thursday, substantively amended both ESTA and IWOWA. The Governor is expected to sign these amendments into law in short order. IWOWAEffective Friday, the minimum wage is $12.48.
