Born and raised in Los Angeles, Manouk Akopyan’s passion and enthusiasm for everything sports, entertainment and writing steered him toward earning a bachelors degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge. Over the last twelve years, he’s held staff positions in editorial roles for the Los Angeles Times, Tribune, NFL Media, Ayzenberg Group/AList, Yerevan Magazine and Glendale News Press, and his bylines and TV reporting have appeared in USA Today, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and NESN, among various other outlets. His professional experience includes extensive reporting, writing, editing and production across all digital platforms, in magazines, newspapers, radio as well as on-camera reporting for television. His portfolio consists of over 2,000 written stories and video interviews with global newsmakers and cultural icons. His international news and feature writing in the sport of boxing over the years have earned him membership in the Boxing Writer’s Association of America (BWAA). Additionally, he’s displayed his love for journalism, writing and community service by advising and mentoring UCLA’s student newspaper (The Armenian Chronicles), North Hollywood High School’s student newspaper (The Arcade) and the community organization Nerouj.
