Before joining The Times, she spent more than five years as the publisher and chief operating officer of CalMatters, a nonpartisan and nonprofit news organization that covers California and its state government. Before joining CalMatters, Marcia worked as an editorial director for Patch’s West Coast local news sites and helped launch the Center for Investigative Reporting’s California Watch site. She is the board chair of the Institute for Nonprofit News. She has a master’s degree from Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law7 Diplomacy and an undergraduate degree in journalism from Indiana University.
