Biography
I cover artificial intelligence for CIO magazine, cybersecurity for CSO, quantum computing and networking for Network World, and write for other publications as well. Email me at maria@korolov.com to suggest story ideas and sources. During the height of the pandemic, as something to do, I founded MetaStellar, an online magazine of speculative fiction. We've since published more than 1,000 stories, nearly 250 videos, two anthologies, and are working on serializing our first full-length novel -- all with a staff of unpaid volunteers. I've been a tech journalist for over 20 years, mostly at IDG and at SourceMedia, and am now a freelancer. I prefer freelancing. Before switching to tech, I was a war correspondent, and reported from Chechnya, Afghanistan, and a few other war zones. I've reported for all three major wire services, the Chicago Tribune, and the Hollywood Reporter. I also ran a news bureau in China for five years and was a managing editor of a daily newspaper in Moscow.

I don't cover anything without a connection to government and people.
