The funds will go toward reimbursing the city for the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant, a program administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Finance Director John Duncan said at Monday’s La Salle City Council meeting the foundation encouraged the city to apply for the grant, with the knowledge the city would be responsible for $400,000.

Paus’ last day in uniform was April 6, the day that the National Guard held LAT 6612’s welcome home ceremony after a deployment to the Philippines, which began in February 2024.
