The funds will go toward reimbursing the city for the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant, a program administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This was a matching grant for $800,000. Finance Director John Duncan said at Monday’s La Salle City Council meeting the foundation encouraged the city to apply for the grant, with the knowledge the city would be responsible for $400,000.

  • Streator 1st Sgt. Aaron Paus retires from the Illinois Army National Guard

Paus’ last day in uniform was April 6, the day that the National Guard held LAT 6612’s welcome home ceremony after a deployment to the Philippines, which began in February 2024. According to the news release, they worked with the Philippine military to increase interoperability and support security cooperation objectives in the region.
