Gayle Lunn with the Rotary said the roof has outlived its life for some time now, but the club has always put other organizations' needs before their own. But now she said it is overdue and time. "So shockingly, the existing roof was installed back in 1987 so it's actually 37 years old," she said. "So it is really is in dire need of replacement for structural but also for safety reasons.

  • Illegal U-turn results in collosion, Hwy 16 closure

    By Marisca Bakker| Smithers, Interior News Verified A car crash between Telkwa and Smithers briefly closed Hwy 16 on April 9. Smithers RCMP said two vehicles were travelling westbound on Hwy 16 when one vehicle pulled over to the shoulder and attempted an illegal u-turn. The manoeuvre resulted in a collision with the second vehicle travelling behind. The driver who made the u-turn has been charged with driving without due care and attention.
