  • Artificial, Augmented or Apocalyptic Intelligence?

By Mark Fallows| Substack@ Forgive me for starting this newsletter with AI. I am sure you’ve been swamped with posts and articles about GPT4. And if, like me, you have been furiously experimenting with this new technology, you may have missed this video of a talk by Tristan Harris and Aza Raskin on March 9th called the AI Dilemma. If you have not seen it, I will urge you to watch it. It’s 1 hour well spent. You might recall Harris’s The Social Dilemma. Harris calls this our first contact with AI, what he terms “Curation AI”.

The Impossible Network

The Impossible Network started as a simple experiment in serendipity, with the goal of growing a network of curious and purposeful individuals. However, it quickly evolved into something much bigger. The focus shifted towards telling the stories of remarkable people who are driving positive change for social good. But we are not stopping there. The next chapter of The Impossible Network is already underway. In addition to sharing the stories of these amazing individuals, we are now actively engineering connections and random collisions between curious and creative problem solvers from the arts, business, science, and technology fields. Our goal is to create action engines that will collaborate to solve some of the most pressing problems of our time. We believe that it is time to move beyond think tanks and start taking action. By bringing together diverse groups of people, we can find unique and innovative solutions to the complex issues we face today. We have expanded our efforts beyond simply sharing stories to actively engineering connections and random collisions events and workshops that bring together diverse minds to focus on a defined problem or challenge, and the alchemy of combining their experiences, insights, and imagination enables what may currently feel impossible to become possible. Through exploration, discussion, and debate, we unearth unexpected ideas and innovations that result in smart actions to address some of our more pressing societal or brand challenges and problems. Join us on our journey to drive positive change and make the impossible possible!
