Biography
Although I have an extensive background in advertising and communications strategy, since 2002 I've mainly worked as a journalist published in the New York Times and elsewhere. I have a knack for telling great brand stories like Langlitz Leathers and Kansas City's own Elevé Dancewear; making complex technical subjects understandable to a general audience; and telling the story-behind-the-story, for example about a social media windfall that recently benefited Harley-Davidson. (There are links to these stories in the Portfolio section of this listing.) I'm the author of Build a Brand Like Trader Joe's, and a public speaker on the importance of Customer Experience to brands. I was the principal subject of one of last year's most popular Freakonomics episodes. I have an extremely wide-ranging education (University of Calgary) and interests. I love learning new subjects and am a (very !) quick study. I speak fluent 'engineer'. I'm a U.S. / Canadian dual citizen and speak both English & French. I'm a subject matter expert in the world of motorcycles and motorcycle racing, and one of the world's foremost journalists in that niche.
