  • Chris Measmer officially a state senator, Cabarrus Commission seat still in limbo

Chris Measmer (R-Cabarrus) was sworn in Tuesday, April 15, to represent District 34 in the North Carolina Senate, which covers the majority of Cabarrus County. He fills the vacancy created by Sen. Paul Newton (R-Cabarrus), who resigned in March. Meanwhile, his seat on the Cabarrus County Commissioners remains in legal limbo. President Pro Tempore Sen. Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) administered the oath of office for Measmer.
