Central Vermont's daily newspaper since 1897, the Times Argus is the product of a merger of the Barre Times and the Montpelier Evening Argus in 1959. Family-owned for its entire history, the newspaper's sister paper is the Rutland Herald. The newspapers operate the Vermont Press Bureau, which provides coverage of state government.
