Dr. Nathan Robert Starke is accused of performing multiple surgeries while under the influence between August and October of 2024. The suspension is effective immediately, according to the Texas Medical Board. A Texas Medical Board disciplinary panel issued the temporary suspension of Starke on Dec. 20.

Capital murder charges were filed against 26-year-old Franklin Peña and 22-year-old Johan Martinez Rangel in June, days after the two men allegedly raped and strangled Nungaray, and left her body in a shallow creek near her home.
