By Matt Hopf Verified| Herald-Whig Verified QUINCY — The Adams County Board on Tuesday approved an ordinance allowing it to sell $9 million in bonds to fund the courthouse heating and air conditioning and roof replacement. Finance Committee Chairman Travis Cooley, R-4, said the county selected Kings Financial Consulting of Monticello as the fiduciary handling the bond sale. The county will be able to sell the bonds in 60 days. "First, we're going to go to local banks," Cooley said.

Republican Mayor Mike Troup faces off against former city treasurer and independent candidate Linda Moore in the consolidated election. Troup, 67, who is finishing his first term, believes the city has undergone tremendous business growth during his time as mayor and wants to see that continue.

In a statement Tuesday, QU President Brian McGee said the university learned one of its employees "wrongly agreed" to ask students of a team to distribute the flyers for independent candidate Linda Moore. "Further, the employee involved four other employees in this effort," McGee said.
