By Matt Schaefer Verified| WQOW-TV (Eau Claire, WI) Verified Western Wisconsin picked up quite a soaking over the past couple of days as a round of moderate rain with pockets of heavy rain moved through late Sunday through this morning. Today added 0.46" since 1 AM (climate data observes standard time and not Daylight Saving Time) with Eau Claire measuring 0.82" today at our studio. That number will also be a bit off and isn't a good direct comparison as Austin only measured a couple times per day when I (Matt) was out on parental leave.

By Matt Schaefer Verified| WQOW-TV (Eau Claire, WI) Verified While March can bring spring-like temperatures to Western Wisconsin and did again today, it can also be incredibly wintry. St. Patrick's Day, March 17, has Eau Claire's largest spread between the record high and record low temperatures with a 97° difference between the record warmest high of 82° set in 2012 and the record coldest low of -15° set in 1923. This St. Patrick's Day's high was warmer than average with a high near 60°. The record coldest low on March 17 is just 7° set in 1941.
