(KOLN) - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is working on implementing the $1 million it got from winning last fall’s Big Ten’s We Give Blood drive, which was organized by global health care company Abbott. On Thursday, university officials gathered to celebrate the win and talk about where the money will go. In total, Abbott officials said 60,000 lives will be saved by the blood donated from all the competing schools, 20% of which came from Nebraska.

She said about 30% of the tax revenue comes from out of town visitors coming to Lincoln for events like state basketball or Nebraska football.
