(KOLN) - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is working on implementing the $1 million it got from winning last fall’s Big Ten’s We Give Blood drive, which was organized by global health care company Abbott. On Thursday, university officials gathered to celebrate the win and talk about where the money will go. In total, Abbott officials said 60,000 lives will be saved by the blood donated from all the competing schools, 20% of which came from Nebraska.

(KOLN) - As the warm weather ramps up, so does road construction around Lincoln, with the newly extended Lincoln on the Move quarter-cent sales tax helping to pave the way. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Director Liz Elliott said she “can’t thank the community enough,” for trusting the department and investing in the city’s streets. She said about 30% of the tax revenue comes from out of town visitors coming to Lincoln for events like state basketball or Nebraska football.
