He is a native of Matawan, New Jersey, who currently lives outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife Sarah and two daughters. He holds a B.A. in History and Culture from Arizona State University, an M.A. in History from Rutgers University-Camden, and an MPA from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served for over 15 years as an officer and civilian in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.
