According to CHI Health, as of July 5, there have been more than 36 firework-related issues from July 3 to July 4 in the Omaha metro and Lincoln area. They said the injuries range from young children to older adults and that they have treated everything from burns, lacerations and contusions. CHI Health stated that the injuries were mainly to the eyes, face, and hands.

According to the Cherry County Attorney, Earl Joe Cooper, 35, of Arkansas has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of 82-year-old Larry Lynn Covalciuc. Covalciuc was participating in the Tour De Nebraska bicycle ride.
