Biography

Meg Kinnard is a national political reporter for The Associated Press. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, she grew up in a political family and received a BSFS in International Politics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., with a concentration in International Security. Her desire to work for the CIA was altered when an opportunity to serve on staff for student newspaper The Georgetown Independent would change her trajectory. After an internship at The Washington Post led to to the role of assistant online editor for National Journal - a chance conversation at a bar in Columbia, South Carolina, opened the door for a job with The Associated Press. She is now in her 14th year with what she considers the greatest news organization in the world and was awarded AP staffer of the year for 2008.
