  • No. 6 Ole Miss comes up just short in series opener against No. 5 Tennessee

    By Michael Katz Verified| Sun Herald Verified OXFORD - Tennessee ace Liam Doyle - who played the 2024 season at Ole Miss - pitched 8 1/3 innings with 14 strikeouts against his former team Friday night as the No. 5 Volunteers won the opener of a three-game series with the No. 6 Rebels 3-2 at Swayze Field. Two Ole Miss (26-8, 8-5) batters walked in the bottom of the ninth inning, bringing freshman designated hitter Hayden Federico to the plate with two outs and both the tying and winning runs on base. Federico flew out to right to end the game.
