Biography

I’m a recent graduate of the University of Southern California, where I earned my B.A. in journalism with a minor in screenwriting, graduating magna cum laude. I’m seeking opportunities in journalism and media with a focus on telling human stories across society’s fault lines. I’m especially drawn to work that explores entertainment, music, lifestyle, travel and culture. At USC, I was awarded the Trustee Scholarship, the university's top full-tuition, four-year merit award, and participated in the Thematic Option Honors Program. I was recognized on the USC Annenberg Dean’s List throughout my academic career. I can be reached at michaelpincus26@gmail.com.

By Michael Pincus Verified, Liv McConnell| Yahoo Life Verified MENAHEM KAHANA/Getty ImagesNote: The author of this article writes “G-d” with hyphenation to respect an interpretation of a Jewish rule about honoring the Holy One’s name. Purim, or the Feast of Lots, is a Biblical Jewish festival known for extravagant costumes, the exchanging of gift baskets, performances, and a feast. This joyous celebration commemorates how ancient Jews were spared from massacre during the Persian Empire.

  • Attending the U.N. COP27 climate summit as a college student

By Michael Pincus Verified| USC Annenberg Media Verified I’ll keep it a buck with you: the United Nations Climate Change Conference is not about Gen Z. One might think the leading global climate summit, known as the Conference of Parties, or colloquially as COP, would be all about the youth who are slated to most intimately deal with the consequences of the climate crisis. But it’s not. I know because I was there. In November 2022, I traveled to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to attend the 27th iteration of the U.N. Climate Change Conference.

  • “Someone’s way up”

By Michael Pincus Verified| USC Annenberg Media Verified When approached for an interview, Myles Molnar was apprehensive about not having “enough” of a story to write about. But Molnar, a 21-year-old undergraduate student at USC, sold himself short. Born and raised in what he describes as a “small little suburb” in Pleasanton, California, Molnar beat the notoriously difficult single-player video game “Dark Souls” in middle school, because, in his words, he was a “big old nerd.”He was an athlete, too. Molnar was always much bigger than his peers.
