Biography
Michele Weldon has been a journalist for more than 40 years writing for newspapers, magazines and digital outlets. The author of six books and several book chapters, she is emerita faculty in journalism at the Medill School, Northwestern University; senior leader with The OpEd Project, editorial director at Take The Lead, and director of Northwestern Public Voices Fellowship for The OpEd Project. Her upcoming book, Act Like You're Having A Good Time, is out Spetember 2020. She has written two memoirs, Escape Points: A Memoir (2015) and I Closed My Eyes (199) plus three other books. She writes on issues related to culture, women and media for hundreds of publications including New York Times, CNN.com, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Cosmopolitan, Newsday, AlJazeera, Alternet.org, Medium, More.com, Slate, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA Today and Thrive Global. She has been a guest on hundreds of cable, television and radio shows including CNN and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She is a frequent keynoter on issues related to women and media. Weldon also participated in the Moth ChicagoGrandSlam in 2012 and has narrated lessons on TED-Ed. She has three sons and lives in Chicago.
