The new panels have murals carved into them. They show the Butternut Creek aqueduct, the historic Erie Canal and the present use of the towpath for biking and hiking the Empire State Trail. The murals depict scenes from nature and history – butterflies and flowers as well as bikes, canal boats and, of course, a mule.
