Five Speed cameras will record vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit (30 km/h or 40 km/h) in Community Safety Zones, one in each municipal ward. When a vehicle is detected speeding, its image is recorded and reviewed by Provincial Offences Officers. Within 30 days, a monetary fine is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.

Georgina is now part of a new federal riding called York-Durham — York Region’s largest riding stretching 1,823 square kilometres with 116,500 residents and 96,869 electors. York-Durham includes Georgina, Brock, Uxbridge, Scugog, and rural areas of Whitchurch-Stouffville, as well as the Chippewas of Georgina Island and Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations.
