Biography

Mike Cianciolo joined Best Version Media in January 2020 and serves as the Director of BVM Sports after spending three years as a Sports Anchor/Reporter for Gray Television in Alexandria, Louisiana, (KALB-TV) and Eau Claire, Wisconsin (WEAU 13 News). Growing up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Mike had dreams of becoming a professional athlete. He played soccer and ran track in high school for the Pewaukee Pirates (Mike was a year between NFL and former Badgers football players Derek and T.J. Watt who also participated in track & field at PHS), but realized quickly that becoming a sports broadcaster was the best route for him to continue his passion for all things sports. Mike graduated from Marquette University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast & Electronic Communication. He spent time in college working as the Sports Director of the student television station, MUTV. Mike also worked for Marquette University's athletics department as a Video Production Assistant. He was honored with 18 student broadcasting awards (from Wisconsin, the Midwest and nationally) spanning across his work as a producer/editor, sports reporter and play-by-play announcer. Mike was also nominated for two Chicago/Midwest college Emmy’s as a producer/editor. While earning his degree in Milwaukee, Mike was a production intern for Spectrum Sports (then Time Warner Cable SportsChannel) and a sports intern for WISN-TV. He also worked as a freelancer controlling social media for WISN-TV’s seasonal show “Big 12 Sports Saturday” in the fall of 2015. During his time with KALB-TV, Mike covered LSU-Alexandria men’s basketball’s undefeated NAIA D-I regular season and their Fab Four loss in the national tournament, LSU football and the Tigers’ 18th College World Series (CWS) appearance which ended with a loss to Florida in the 2017 CWS Finals and the New Orleans Saints. He also covered prep basketball, baseball and softball state championships throughout Louisiana. While working for WEAU, Mike covered the 2019 Final Four, Super Bowl LII Opening Night, Game 1 of the 2018 NLCS and the Green Bay Packers. He also co-hosted seasonal Friday night high school football and basketball editions of "SportScene 13".
