By Mike Grant| Washington Times-Herald Verified Martin County has been declared as a disaster area. Indiana Governor Mike Braun made the declaration for Martin and 17 other counties around the state hit by storm damage. The declaration is in place for 30 days and will allow the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to start providing financial assistance to impacted communities under the State Disaster Relief Fund.

The crash was staged but the message behind it was real. “We rang some bells. They walk through the line and you can see that some of them are holding back some emotion. There are some who are going to think twice,” said Daviess County Sheriff's Department Captain J.R. Crew, who organizes the event.
