After reading the article about brain health in the Jan. 18 Telegraph Herald, I have to ask myself (and others), what is it? The article is about our school systems trying to measure, quantify and fix it. I suppose it’s in the interest of helping students, but will it? I’ve never seen a good description of what brain health is. I wonder what is the empirical data to measure it, and what is the baseline to measure against?
By Mike McClain| Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, Iowa) Verified Just over 40 years ago, when AYSO soccer first came to Dubuque, I volunteered to be a coach for my 5-year-old son’s team. I knew nothing about soccer, so I bought books to learn the game and the rules. There was no internet or YouTube to mentor me. Several years later, I moved to refereeing games. I remember playing on fields wherever we were allowed. These were not soccer fields, but we used what we could, and the kids enjoyed it.
