• Investigation proves once again value of local journalism

  By Mike Throne|Lancaster Eagle-GazetteVerifiedThe last few weeks have been good for journalism in Fairfield County. Your newspaper, the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, led the way with bombshell coverage. Reporters Spencer Remoquillo and Trista Thurston, along with photographer Matthew Berry, embarked on an investigation of now former Lancaster Mayor Brian Kuhn’s gambling problem, shady business ethics and the good ole' boy network that put him into the highest office in the city. A dozen stories and a few editorials later, the mayor resigned.

More often than not, I was challenged by what I read, and still am, on a regular basis. I never expected to agree with everything I read, and I most certainly did not. After all, it's in the diversity of views that we are emboldened and tested.
