Biography
Millicent “Millie” Martin Emery joined Western Wayne News in Cambridge City, Indiana, as a writer, page designer and assistant editor in October 2017. She also works with the publication's website and social media. She previously worked for the Palladium-Item in Richmond, Indiana, as an intern and then a full-time employee, with roles ranging from reporter (arts and entertainment, business, education and family life) to news editor, which meant overseeing the copy editing and page design team, and special publications editor for magazines with topics including parenting, business, special events and a lifestyle publication geared to baby boomers and seniors. Millie was the Chancellor’s Scholar for the Class of 2000 at Indiana University’s School of Journalism in Bloomington, where she served as president of the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and wrote for the Indiana Daily Student newspaper and Arbutus yearbook. She is currently president of IU's Media School Alumni Association. She also enjoys volunteering for several local organizations, serving as vice president of Friends of Morrisson-Reeves Library, board president and violinist for Richmond Community Orchestra, secretary of Civic Hall Associates, and publicity coordinator for Richmond Rose Garden’s 1st Bloom & Glow gala. She was selected as an Outstanding Young Professional in Wayne County in 2016 by HYPE Richmond. She lives in Richmond with her husband, Mike, who is also a journalist at Western Wayne News.

State Rep. JD Prescott (R-Union City) and Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) have added a proposed amendment into the state’s budget bill that would dissolve the Union (Modoc) School Corporation, saying it’s needed to help students who are performing poorly on standardized tests.

The Connersville-based school district hired Stover at its Tuesday, April 8, board meeting. “We will work well together, and he will fit in really well,” Duncan told WWN.
