  • Catalyst to reduce output, cut staff

    By Mirella Christou| The (Toronto) Star Verified Catalyst Paper Corp.'s decision to cut production and lay off part of its workforce is good news for the sector, but more needs to be done, according to an analyst. "This Catalyst announcement will help newsprint producers overall," said Paul Quinn at Salman Partners. "But the problem (of too much supply) is bigger than 134,000 metric tonnes, or 20 per cent" of Catalyst's newsprint business, he added.
