  • Serbia Holds Rates on High Inflation Despite Flagging Economy

(Bloomberg) -- Serbia left interest rates unchanged for a seventh month due to sticky inflation even as the the economy lost steam following months of anti-government protests. The National Bank of Serbia kept its one-week repurchase rate at 5.75% on Thursday, as predicted by 15 of 17 economists in a Bloomberg survey. Two expected a quarter-point cut. Inflation has hovered around the upper end of the central bank’s 1.5%-4.5% tolerance range since July.
