Biography

Mohammad Ponir Hossain is a Pulitzer Prize recipient Reuters photographer based in Bangladesh. He is the first ever Bangladeshi to receive this prestigious award. In 2018, Ponir shares the Pulitzer Prize with other Reuters photographers for their coverage on Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. Ponir has been working for international news agency Reuters since July 2016. Before joining to Reuters, he used to work as a contributor photographer for Zuma Press, U.S. and NurPhoto, Italy, for more than a year. In 2016 he received Konrad Adenauer Scholarship to study one year Post Graduate Diploma in Visual Journalism in Ateneo De Manila University, Philippines. His works has been published in major news outlets across the globe including New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Newsweek, The Guardian, Sunday Times, The Telegraph and many other national and international media.
