I am a digital content producer with KVUE in Austin, Texas and I have been in this role since the start of 2024. Here, I work on the daybreak shift, clipping stories from our early morning newscasts, editing reporter articles and writing stories of my own. Previously, I worked as a digital content producer for KIDY in San Angelo, TX in my first role out of college. Before that, I graduated from Kent State University in 2022 with a major in journalism and a minor in photojournalism. This week, Austin ISD Superintendent Matias Segura updated parents and guardians about the future of Dobie Middle School. Children at the school could be reassigned to a different institution in the upcoming 2025 school year, and if so, they would potentially be sent to Lamar Middle School, about 6 miles away in Central Austin.

The eastbound lanes of FM 1431 through the 900 block of Vía Viejo have been closed since around 7a.m. after the crash, according to a social media post from the city. The turn lane is open for east and westbound drivers, but it's unclear when the rest of the roadway will reopen to traffic. Drivers are asked to avoid the are until further notice.

According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), two vehicles collided sometime before 7 a.m. along the 15000 block of State Hwy 71 heading westbound. ATCEMS said that six people were involved in the crash, three of which were ejected from a vehicle.
