A lawsuit filed by county Democrats in 2022 finds that the county failed to meet the standards of state laws when approving the redistricting maps in 2021. Democrats say the approved boundary lines for all 17 districts in Onondaga County were gerrymandered — eliminating the only majority black district in the county and also divided communities that should have been kept together.
