Besides Dr Ezra Suruma, an early contact was Professor Frederick W. Kakumba, a Ugandan professor of economics at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York. A 1962 A-Level graduate of Lubiri Secondary School, Kakumba had arrived in the United States in 1964 to pursue higher education.
