Biography
I was drawn to journalism for the same reasons I was drawn to research: curiosity and a sense of duty to let the public know more about their own world. I completed a Ph.D. in microbiology, studying the diversity of microbes that can be found in arctic lakes in Nunavut. I had the chance to be part of a few sampling expeditions and have learned about some of the social and political challenges associated with modern nordic life. I am particularly fond of topics that allow me to investigate how science still affects people's everyday life. My experiences in the north of Canada have also made me aware of the challenges faced by Inuits and First Nations, and I hope I can help their voices be heard.
I like to say that I can cover anything as there will always be an angle where I will be comfortable (usually a science or innovation one!)
