Biography

I'm a journalist who lives in Melbourne, Australia, and I've been a writer for over a decade. I started out as a Eurovision blogger in Wiwibloggs but gradually became a freelance writer covering transgender issues. I expanded my portfolio witnessing the growing levels of disinformation and political attacks on my community and decided I would use the written word as a weapon in this fight. Over the years, I've featured in Crikey, Overland, News Corp and Junkee, and I currently work as a regular staff writer for the Nonsense Newsletter. I've also appeared on community radio and various podcasts regarding transgender issues, and I'm always open to commissions :)

  • Why the recommendations from the inquest into transgender suicides are welcome, but nowhere near enough

By Natalie Feliks| Nonsense Newsletter@ On 11 December 2020, 28-year-old DJ and union worker Bridget Flack was found dead in bushland near Kew. The discovery of her body came after a twelve-day coordinated search, led by the queer community and over a hundred local residents from the Fairfield area. Bridget had a history of poor mental health, like many trans women, and was attempting to organise support from a mental health facility at the time she disappeared. Evidence suggests she took her own life.
