  • Street and lane closures coming to Ottawa roadways

    By Natasha O'Neill| CityNews Ottawa@ The unofficial season - construction - is starting in the nation's capital, which means drivers and pedestrians alike are in for a number of headaches over the next several weeks. Starting April 15, the eastbound exit at Metcalfe Street off Highway 417 will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. The city says in a press release this is so workers can inspect the valve chamber at the Isabella and O'Connor streets intersections.

  • Almost 100 charges laid in Ottawa Valley enforcement blitz

    By Natasha O'Neill| CityNews Ottawa@ Police conducted a two-day safety initiative and laid nearly 100 charges while several people received warnings in the Ottawa Valley. The blitz happened on April 12 and 13, and multiple Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments in Ottawa and the valley assisted. Officers patrolled Whitney, Madawaska, Barry's Bay, Golden Lake and Eganville the first day. On the next day, they shifted focus to more areas, including Beachburg, Westmeath, Pembroke and Petawawa.

  • PWHL 2025 Draft happening in Ottawa

    By Natasha O'Neill| CityNews Ottawa@ The PWHL will hold its third annual entry draft in Ottawa on June 24, the league announced on Tuesday, with University of Wisconsin's Casey O'Brien anticipated to be one of the top selections following her MVP senior season. What's yet to be determined is how many teams will be participating in the draft, with the six-team league having yet to announce its decision on whether to expand by as many as two franchises.
