They show him with a +6 net approval rating: 48 percent approval and 42 percent disapproval. In their last poll (conducted before Liberation Day) Trump had a net approval rating of +5. Now you shouldn’t read too much into a single poll — and J.L. Partners has tended to give Trump better job approval numbers than most other pollsters — but the result did move our average somewhat.

This hasn’t been a secret in the last week, but I wanted to announce it formally because part of the reason that Rowman & Littlefield agreed to publish it is because of this wonderful community that has cropped up around this newsletter. The book will be called Uncharted Territory. It’s an off-beat, data-driven history of popular music from 1958 to 2025. It should be out this fall.
