Biography
I am a journalist, columnist, and newspaper editor who's deeply committed to exploring the intersections of media, power, and its effects on public perception. My work examines the absurdities of American cultural life and political practices, the global impact of U.S. policy, and the ways media constructs knowledge and 'otherness.' I keep an ear to the ground, blending satire, analysis, and historical perspectives to dissect the complex interplay between governance, culture, and the ethics of information and social practices. Whether unpacking contemporary political contradictions or tracing media’s role in shaping public consciousness, I aim through my work to interrogate the narratives that define our world.

The Daily Californian is an independent, student-run newspaper that serves the University of California, Berkeley, and its surrounding community. Established in 1871, it is one of the oldest college newspapers in the United States and the oldest on the West Coast. The newspaper is operated by the Independent Berkeley Students Publishing Company, Inc., and has maintained editorial and financial independence from UC Berkeley since 1971. The Daily Californian publishes a broadsheet format and distributes 10,000 copies on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It covers a range of topics, including campus news, local events, sports, arts, and opinion pieces. The current editor-in-chief is Kavya Gupta, supported by a team of 401 staff writers. The newspaper has a rich history, including advocacy for Japanese American students during World War II and significant milestones that highlight its role in student journalism.
