Biography

Ned worked at the Orlando Sentinel from 1984 to 2013. He was the newspaper's assistant business editor and then its deputy business editor for several years, and was its business editor from 1995 to 2013. In between, he was the paper's political editor, national-foreign editor, and health-environment-space-technology editor. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, with a bachelor’s degree in honors English and Phi Beta Kappa; he also completed all coursework for a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism before abandoning his thesis to care for his ailing wife. Before joining the Sentinel, he was a copy editor for the Dallas Times Herald, and before that a reporter and associate editor for the Journal Inquirer in Manchester, Conn. He first job in the business was as a proofreader and news assistant at the Norwich (Conn.) Bulletin.
