He entered the transfer portal after appearing in all 11 games this past season. McMillan began his career at Mississippi Valley State and Northwestern State before making his way to SEMO in 2024. Before heading to MVSU, he initially committed to Tulsa, but opted to compete in both football and track as a freshman.

He previously worked at Alabama and Florida State, as well as the Orange Bowl. Purinton spent 15 years at Alabama before arriving at Arkansas State. He started out as the associate athletics director for football communications from 2007-15 before moving up to senior associate athletics director from 2015-18.
