Biography
An ex-adman from Johannesburg, Nick started travel writing full-time just prior to the publication of his first book (2008), Circling the Great Karoo - a back roads journey through history on an old scrambler. His first foray into magazine writing was for the South African airways' magazine, Sawubona, in January 2007. Since then Nick has written hundreds of general travel articles as well as off-road motoring and adventure motorcycling pieces for the likes of Sunday Times; Country Life; Business Day; Weekend Post; Weekend Argus; Leisure Wheels; SA 4x4. Bike SA; Offroad &Adventure; Caravan & Outdoor Life and Wheels24. He has also written a book of short stories (Karoo Tales & Images) inspired by his time spent in the quirky Karoo town of Aberdeen in the Karoo. When not travel writing, Nick offers his services as a book editor and keeps his advertising copywriting hand in if an opportunity arises. Nick is passionate about preserving the environment, particularly the Karoo, as well as advocating the need to address the key factors causing climate change.
