She told the students, who helped to spread mulch around the tree, that 1 million trees were planted on the first Arbor Day in 1872 in Nebraska.

  • Heribacka, OASIS volunteers continue to send care packages to troops

That started more than 16 years ago. Her sons have long been back home and finished with their military careers. But Heribacka, through Operation America Standing in Support (OASIS) and the with help of family, friends and associates, all volunteers, continues sending care packages to hundreds of service members overseas. “I just kept going,” she said.
