Biography

Dr. Olayinka Oyegbile is a journalist, writer, and media scholar. He is a campaigner for freedom of the press and equal opportunity. In 2023 he was awarded the West Africa Science Communication Awards by the magazine The Conversation (Africa) for writing the best and the most widely read article for the magazine that year. He has worked in both the electronic and print media. He is widely travelled and experienced in the field of journalism, communication and cultural studies. He has won many awards both at home and abroad, among which are Fellow of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Public Health Reporting. He is also a Fellow of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and other prestigious institutions in Germany, India, and so on. His play The Dirty Leap was published in 2021 to critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the prestigious Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Drama Prize in 2022. His is the author of a book on migration Home Away from Home. Another book titled Nigeria Female Editors: Prejudice, Experience and Encounters is to be published in the first quarter of 2025. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies
