Others are made up of friends and family who what to get exercise and have some fun. One of the teams is running to spread a special message. Special Olympics Vermont’s VCM relay is running to promote health and fitness. Team member Taylor Terry said she runs because she likes to be active and that she’s always active in Special Olympics.

Fortunately, there's help out there to inspire runners during the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon. It comes in the form of spectators cheering them on along the course. That includes groups of musicians. One of them is Sambatuda, a Burlington-based, Brazilian-inspired drumming group that has been bringing their beats to the marathon for years.
