UNL Police Department Assistant Chief Marty Fehringer said that in the last few weeks, crime across campus was slightly higher, but full of typical offenses like underage drinking, fake IDs, hit and runs, and driving under the influence. Officers arrested 21-year-old Cale Wacker of Norfolk Thursday, April 3 in relation to a hate crime against a student.

  • UPC says it won’t change its mission amidst DEI ban

    By Owen Reimer| The Daily Nebraskan Verified Since The United States Department of Education issued a letter Feb. 14, effectively banning programs related to diversity, equity and inclusion on college campuses, students and faculty are left questioning exactly what these bans will affect. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s University Programing Council President Nancy Tran said the student-run organization will not be changing its dedication or approach to diversity on campus amidst federal policy changes.

  • Crime blooms on campus as spring arrives

    By Owen Reimer| The Daily Nebraskan Verified As Spring begins to bloom across campus, so has crime. UNLPD Assistant Chief Marty Fehringer said the University of Nebraska-Lincoln saw a slight rise in crimes over the past two weeks, which he said is consistent yearly with the rise in temperatures. An officer saw a man littering, throwing a bottle on the sidewalk, Monday, March 10 at 14th and P Streets, and stopped his car to intervene.
